... the company
Inantuda Ltd
is a traditional Oakwright carpentry company based in North Yorkshire. Our dedicated team of
craftsmen specialise in the design and construction of oak timber frames
that reflect both contemporary and vernacular styles.
... in the tradition
Oak timber framing as we know it dominated construction
methods in Britain from around the 10th until the late 18th century with
many fine examples still surviving in our cities, towns and countryside.
Over the centuries, subtle changes in Oak frame and joint design have occurred
but many of the framing skills and techniques employed by the medieval
carpenter are still used today in the Inantuda framing yard.
... the result
The
result is a structure that has managed to retain a simple integrity, a
harmony between living space and aesthetic considerations, unparalleled,
we believe, by any other construction method.
... the name
Inantuda is taken
from a book detailing the effects of tropical deforestation on the
indigenous peoples of Borneo.
